Scavenger hunt

A bald eagle scavenges in a sheep pasture along a country road near Elkton in southwestern Oregon. Matt Stuber, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Pacific Region eagle coordinator says, 'Some bald eagles catch muskrats, waterfowl, turtles, goslings, pheasants, gulls and rabbits. Bald eagles are also scavengers, and commonly feed on a wide variety of carcasses. Scavenging is particularly common in the winter months, when live prey is relatively scarce in some areas.'
