I noticed this barn while driving near Sutherlin this afternoon. Is it just me or does anyone else see a hungry face on the side of the barn?

Showing her flair

After shooting male red winged blackbirds last week I decided to go back to the marsh and see if I could get a nice photo of a female. Not as showy as the male, but she still has just a touch of color on her wing patches.

Many of my nature pictures are available for purchase. Check my online gallery. You can order directly online, or let me know what you like and I'll make a print for you.

Commercial Photography in Roseburg

Yesterday I shot a commercial photography assignment near Roseburg for a company which builds huge municipal water tanks. In commercial photography I'm documenting a product, service, or location. In this case the client wanted me to give the tank a "sense of place". The photo will be used online and in print advertising.
I love it in black and white.

My shot on NationalGeographic.com

One of my pictures is currently one of the Daily Dozen the National Geographic website. Registered users are able to vote for their favorite photo and the winner each month is published in the hard-copy magazine.

The photo is probably my most famous image. I took it a few years ago in Montana. The deer died instantly.

The buzz buzz buzzing

I started raising a hive of honey bees in the orchard near our house this spring. The bees are getting very active with the recent warm weather. So far I've not been stung. If all goes well, we should get about 50 pounds of honey by the end of summer. I took the photo at top with a wide angle lens right under the hive opening. I was wearing a glove, but not my bee suit.

Feeling Foxy on msnbc.com

My fox photo from last week is up on this week's msnbc.com "Animal Tracks" web gallery. The photo credit reads "Robin Loznak for msnbc.com" because I'm now sometimes sending them photos directly.
Check out this video from msnbc.com about their "Week in Pictures" feature. I'm interviewed and they show a couple of my photos.

North Umpqua Chinook Fishing

I drove up the North Umpqua River this morning looking for photos. I found these guys near The Narrows fishing from the mossy bank. Looks like fun, but they better be careful if they hook onto a 40-pond spring Chinook.
Check out more of my work on my website and on my animals and nature gallery. I have limited edition prints available for online sale.

Award winning wedding photographer in Roseburg

One of the photos from the wedding I shot last month won an award in the April, 2010 Sportsshooter.com "clip contest". Funny that it's not a sports photo, and it's not a wedding photo contest. I'm still excited to win an award for my wedding photography.

The winning photos in the Sportsshooter contest are selected by the paying members of the sportsshooter community. Many of the best photojournalist is the world are members.

So far in 2010, I'm in 7th place in total points in the contest. The Sportsshooter of the year wins a $5,000 Canon EOS-1D Mark IV camera. It's not likely that I'll win. I shoot Nikon anyway.

Looking for an award winning wedding photographer? I still have lots of open dates for the spring, summer, and fall. Check my website for rates and packages.
