Photo booth at Roseburg assisted living open house

The residents and staff at the Manor House Memory Care Community assisted living facility in Roseburg had a blast with the photo booth on Sunday during their open house.

The residents got a huge kick out of dressing up and getting their pictures taken.

The booth was such a hit, we've booked another appearance during the Manor House annual safe Halloween trick or treat event on Oct. 31st.

Making Tracks

I have two photos in the Animal Tracks online slide show on msnbc.com this week. They picked up a couple of my photos via Zuma Press.

If you like my animal pictures be sure to check out my new Critter of the Day blog.

The Hall family visited my Roseburg photo studio for family portraits on Saturday.

Teeth are optional at my studio.

Larger than life

Check out my very large photo on the side of an Umpqua Transit bus. The advertisement was created by Dan Bartram at Creative Media Group for Douglas County Cancer Services.  The ladies were photographed in my Roseburg photo studio last month.  Check my website to see more commercial and portrait photography.

New blog: Critter of the Day

I've started a new blog called Critter of the Day.  I'm planning on keeping both blogs going, but keep this one mostly for my commercial, editorial, and portrait photos.  The Critter of the Day will feature, you guessed it, animal pictures updated most days.

My photo on Life website

Life used one of my Super Harvest Moon photos, via Zumapress.com,  on their website in their Week's Best Photos gallery today.  I didn't even know Life was still around.  I always wanted to be published in Life and now I am...sort of.  They have a great selection of images.  Now I have another photo gallery to look a every week.

Commercial Photography

I had a job this week to photograph a couple of commercial building in Roseburg. The client had seen some of my commercial work and wanted a similar feel.  Box stores are not so photogenic, but I think the photo turned out pretty cool.

Super harvest moon

The harvest moon rises from behind a ridge in rural Douglas County near Roseburg on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010. The full moon nearest the autumnal equinox is known as the harvest moon.  This year the event is being called the "super harvest moon" because the full moon coincides with the equinox which has not occurred for 20 years.

Be sure to check out more of my award winning photography.
I also have prints of many of my animal and nature pictures available here.

Black Widow photos

I discovered a family of black widow spiders living in the door frame of my photography studio in Roseburg yesterday.  Of course I took care of them, but being a photographer I had to snap a few pictures.

Sorry if the spider freaked anyone out.  I'm a bit nervous around black widows myself, but I also think they're amazingly beautiful.
 ..
My photo agency used one of the images on their Pictures of the Day website.

Kyle and Ivory engagement photos.

We ended up getting a little rain dampened, but the engagement photos with Kyle and Ivory turned out pretty romantic.

Their wedding will be at the same vineyard next spring.

Prunes Drying

The first dried prunes of the season came out of the dryer at about 6 a.m. Here are a bin of fresh prunes waiting to go into the dryer.

On the Fisher Ranch in Kellogg, Oregon we run the last traditional prune drying operation in Douglas County.  The ranch has been in my wife's family since 1868.

After about 24 hours at 170 degrees the prunes are ready.

My dog, who loves prunes, searches for a snack.  Speaking of snacks, we sell prunes fresh out of the dryer.  Stop by our ranch on Maupin Road off Highway 138 in the Kellogg area.  Hurry because it's going to be a short season.

Nature photography class

My nature photography class starts again on Thursday at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg. If you're interested in taking the class I'm sorry, but it's already overfull. I'll probably be teaching a more advanced class in the spring term.

Critter Conversation

A long-horned grasshopper, also known as a katydid, and another insect have an interaction on a sunflower growing on a farm near Oakland. The meeting lasted a few seconds after which the katydid moved off to sit in the sun nearby.  (Credit Image: © Robin Loznak)

I was shooting the katydid when the beetle made it's appearance. The color is so amazing.

This dew's for you

Droplets of morning dew cling to a a plant and spider web in a field near Oakland, Ore., on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010.

Fall is by far my favorite season.  The colors seem to intensify and the light becomes soft.

Photo Booth Fun

An epic time was had with my photo booth at Brett and Courtney's wedding last weekend.  My setup is not exactly a "booth".  I have an open set which allows for groups and lots of interaction.

I can add custom graphics to the photo strips.

The high quality prints are available in 15 seconds. The guests take home half of the strip and the other half is put into a guest book.

The photo booth is great fun for any party, special event, or fundraiser.

Check my website for rates.

I was also the wedding photographer for the day. Check out some of my favorites.
