Snail season in Oregon

A Pacific sideband snail inches slowly over a moss and mushroom encrusted piece of rotting wood on a forested hillside near Roseburg, Ore., on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014. The snail is native to the coastal areas of the Pacific Northwest and can be found from Alaska to northern California.

Life finds a way

A just hatched baby chicken is warmed after it was found outside of its nest on Sunday, Oct., 26, 2014. The chick is part of our backyard flock. Raising backyard chickens for fresh eggs has become more popular in the United States over the last few years. The chick was placed back with its mother after it warmed up.
