Hunting kestrel in Oregon

A wild American kestrel hunts in a pasture along a country road near Elkton in rural western Oregon on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020. Kestrels are small falcons about the size of a mourning dove. Kestrels feed primarily on large insects, but also hunt small mammals, birds, and reptiles.
