Pond life

A rough skinned newt swims in a fresh water pond on a farm near Elkton in rural western Oregon on Friday, April 10, 2020. During spring the amphibious newts gather in ponds for mating and egg laying. The body of the rough skin newt contains a powerful toxin. The orange coloration of the their body is a warning to potential predators.

My hand in the picture for perspective.
