|A herd of wild Roosevelt elk graze in an open area of the Coast Range Mountains near Elton, Ore., Ore., on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2012. Roosevelt Elk are the largest of the four subspecies of elk in North America.|
|I crept up pretty close to the herd before they noticed me. They didn't seen very concerned. Shot with my Nikon 300mm f/2.8 and 1.4x Nikon teleconverter on my Nikon D3S body. My 600mm f/4 is in the shop. I can't wait to get it back. The Nikon D4 has just been released. The performance stats are amazing.|
