Senior portraits

The other kind of senior. My mother stopped by my Roseburg photography studio yesterday and sat for a couple of quick portraits. She looks pretty good, but I may be a little biased.

Handle with care

Scooter also loves to relax in a basket on our piano.

Scooter spends time in a small shipping box.  He may be the best cat in the world. If you want to see a funny video of another amazing cat in a box be sure to check out Maru.

Check out a little video I made of Scooter and his box...

Wonderland

A mushroom grows in an orchard on a dewy morning in southwestern Oregon.
A hibernating woolly bear caterpillar curls up on the underside of a large mushroom in a pasture on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011.  I found the caterpillar and the mushroom but I could not find an Alice in Wonderland hooka.  It was the wrong type of caterpillar anyway.

Happy Thanksgiving

County fair turkey says, "Thanks for nothing, jerks".  I say, "325, for about 4 hours".
Happy Thanksgiving!

The Pacific Northwet

The rain is making for some very happy salamanders here in the Great Pacific Northwet.

Turkey day

Taking a few days off from the studio, but I'll still be, as always, looking for photos.  Please feel free to contact me if you need anything.

Oregon mushroom season

Light shines through the cap of a wild mushroom growing in a forested area of the Coast Range mountains near Elkton, Ore., on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011. Mushrooms big and small are popping up all over with the onset of fall and the rainy season in Oregon.

Tiny insects can be seen crawling on a small mushroom growing in a forested area of the Coast Range mountains near Elkton.

Occupy Roseburg

About 20 protestors gather along Garden Valley Blvd., during an Occupy Roseburg demonstration on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011. The Occupy Wall Street inspired protestors have been gathering most days since Oct. 15th.  Two tents have been setup nearby.  The local police have mostly left the protestors alone except to ask them not to use a megaphone.

Roseburg dog show

An Italian greyhound named Gypsy yawns while her owner, Anna Gray of Portland, checks her Facebook page on her smart phone while waiting to compete in the annual Umpqua Kennel Club's dog show at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Roseburg, Ore., on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011. Dogs and their owners from all over the Pacific Northwest compete in the show.
A Chinese crested named Trinity waits to compete.  I love shooting dog shows.  I almost never take pictures in the rings during judging. I'm always looking for little things going on around the venue.
A poodle named Grace is groomed by her owner Erica Muno of Ogden, Utah.

Pheasant underpass

A ring-necked pheasant feeds in a hazelnut orchard near Roseburg, Ore., on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011. The majority of hazelnuts, also know as filbert nuts, grown in the United States are produced in Oregon.

That's some cat

I may be biased, but I do believe Scooter is the best cat in the world.

A tapestry of color

The Abacela Vineyard and Winery near Winston, Oregon is one of the most beautiful spots in Douglas County.  Each variety of grape has a different fall color and it creates an amazing tapestry. They've also recently opened a new visitor and tasting facility (not pictured).

Colorful crawler

A small ant climbs over a carpet of colorful fall leaves on the ground at Stewart Park in Roseburg, Ore., on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011. (Credit Image: © Robin Loznak)
Shot with my Nikon D3s DSLR and my amazing Nikon AF-S VR 105 f/2.8G IF-ED105mm f/2.8 micro lens.

Walking on colorful leaves is apparently thirsty work.
