Playing Possum

My dogs found this "dead" possum on our farm road this evening. William the yellow lab is always up for a fight with a raccoon or unknown cat, but he showed no interest in the "dearly departed" critter.
It was nearly pitch dark when I shot this. The scene was only lit by moon light filtering in from behind the ridge. The photo was made with a 13 second exposure at 10000 ISO.

World Wide Spider Web

The field next to our house was full of dew coated spider webs this morning. The little water drops hang like jewels on the spider silk. I only saw a couple of spiders.

Snail Crossing

Q: Why did the snail cross the road?
A: No one knows, because it took all day.

I found this cute fellow on a country road near Elkton this morning. See more of my nature and animal photos here.

Beetle Juice

A beetle appears to drink from a rain drop on a clover leaf at River Forks Park near Roseburg on Wednesday. Check out more of my critter pictures here. You can purchased framed prints and even puzzles. This shot would make an amazing puzzle.

Tilt Shift

I've been playing around with my Nikon tilt-shift lens. This specialty lens has the ability to turn, twist, and shift off center. I love the effect on landscapes, nature, and portraits. The skull photo is available for purchase on my ordering page. It would make an amazing print on metallic paper with a silver or black frame.

Spring Swing

A great day playing outside in South Western Oregon.

Smith River Falls

My family and I took a scenic drive to the Smith River Falls near Reedsport today. Getting to the falls in the early evening gave us some great light for photos.
I don't think of myself as a landscape photographer, but the waterfall and nice light inspired me. I have fine art prints available of the falls and other nature photos at my reprint site.

Death by Window

A small bird met its fate after colliding with a window outside my mother-in-law's house today.
Even in death a bird can be beautiful.

Mossy Rocks

I love moving water. I photographed this scene about a quarter mile from my home this morning. It was raining and wet, but worth it. I used a tilt-shift lens on a Nikon D3.

Daddy Daughter Dance

I shot the annual Daddy Daughter Dance at the Fairgrounds in Roseburg last night for The News-Review. The lighting on the dance floor was amazing. It was really neat to see all of the fathers and their daughter spending time together.

It's February, but the early blooming trees are starting to show their colors in Roseburg. No east coast style blizzards here, just lots of rain.

Rough Skinned Newt

My son and I found this cute little guy while on a hike this morning. The rough skinned newt may be cute, but they are very poisonous. I read on wikipedia that a single r-s newt has enough toxin in its skin to kill 13 grown men.
Check out more of my animal and nature pictures here and here.

Roseburg Senior Portraits with Katie

Katie is the toughest girl I know, but she also looks great in her senior portraits in Roseburg. It's deadline time for the yearbook at Roseburg High School and I'm doing several last minute senior portrait sessions.

I'll make time for any seniors who still need their picture. Check my website to see more.
I have my lights setup at my Roseburg photography studio. Stop in next week at 830 SE Rose St.

Happy Groundhog Day

We don't have groundhogs in Roseburg, but we do have large nearly tame nutria at the Stewart Park duck pond. The large web-footed rodent I found today seemed to have zero interest in his shadow. Does that mean winter is almost over?

I'm setting up an online portfolio which highlights my photojournalism skills. This is the website I'll show to editors in the publishing world. My site at robinloznak.com will remain as a showcase for my portrait, wedding, and commercial work.
