The pest

An adult barn owl is harassed by a blackbird as the pair glide through a wooded area along the Umpqua River near Elkton in southwestern Oregon on Sunday, June 15, 2014.  Biologists call the  behavior "mobbing" and believe the smaller birds use the behavior to keep the larger predatory birds away from nests or chicks.
