Stop to eat the flowers

Wild Roosevelt elk (Cervus canadensis roosevelti) feed in a field of wildflowers near Sutherlin, Ore., on Friday, July 3, 2010. The Roosevelt elk, also known as Olympic elk, is the largest of the four subspecies of elk in North America. Mature bulls have been known to weigh up to 1300 lb. (Credit Image: © Robin Loznak)
I was lucky to find this small herd of elk browsing in a field of wildflowers yesterday near Sutherlin. Shot with my 600mm lens.
Check out more of my nature and wildlife photos in the slide show below. Limited edition framed prints can be ordered directly from the gallery.
