Salmon fishing on the Umpqua River in Oregon

As the morning fog lifts, fishermen test their luck for Coho salmon on the Umpqua River near Roseburg, Ore., on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012. The Umpqua River is considered one of the premier salmon and steelhead fishing rivers in Oregon.

The fog and morning sunshine made for some very nice light.  It only lasted a few minutes, but I made the best of it.

Commercial photo illustrations

 I recently worked on a photo illustration project for Fiji Water.  They decided to use three of my creations in an upcoming promotion.  They've purchased the rights to use the Mona Lisa, American Gothic and the Birth of Venus illustrations.  These are not my typical photos, but I had fun playing with photoshop and I did actually take the picture of the bottle.  

I picked up the gig through my new partner imagebrief.com.  They're a great organization and I hope to work with them a lot more.

Ol' Blue Eyes

A female damselfly deposits eggs on the stem of a plant as she is clasped by her blue-eyed male partner at the edge of a pond near Elkton, Ore., on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012. The adult damselflies will die as the cold of winter comes.  Their eggs will grow as wingless larvae in the pond. Depending on species, water temperature and food supplies the larvae will take six months to several years to reach their adult flying stage.

Hang in there

Cut it out

A real bird has nothing to fear from the wooden cutouts of big cats outside the Noah's Ark biblical themed attraction in Winston, Ore., on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012.  The bird is a flicker and I think the big cats are cheetahs.
