New newts on the way

A pair of pregnant rough skinned newts swim in a glass container after being pulled from a pond near Elkton in rural southwestern Oregon on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016. It's mating and egg laying season in Oregon for the amphibians. Rough skinned newts are highly toxic and their colorful underbellies serve as a warning to potential predators. The newts were returned unharmed to the pond.
