Cute little vampire

A little brown bat grooms its wing as it peers out of its nest box on the side of a barn on a farm near Elkton in southwestern Oregon on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016. The bats appeared to be waking up from their day-time rests and preparing for their evening hunt.

Sad ending

Fire on the mountain

A wildfire burns on a forested hillside near Elkton, Ore., on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016. A dry hot summer has lead to a prolonged fire season in southwestern Oregon. The fire, which started Tuesday afternoon, had grown to over 60 acres by nightfall.
The fire was burning about 1.5 miles from my home and we could see it from our back porch. The fire was luckily contained by this morning.
