YOUTHvGOV: Case management conference

Attorney JULIA OLSON hugs one of her youth plaintiffs outside the Federal Courthouse in Eugene, Ore., on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017. The youth and attorneys had just completed a case management conference in the landmark federal lawsuit brought by 21 young plaintiffs against the federal government. The lawsuit is being litigated by attorneys with the non-profit legal firm Our Children's Trust.
The Our Children's Trust legal team leaves the courthouse. The case asks the federal government to implement a science-based climate change recovery plan.
Members of the public and the media gather for a press conference outside the courthouse after the hearing.

Named plaintiff Kelsey Juliana, left, and some of the other 21 youth plaintiffs outside the courthouse.
The plaintiffs and their attorneys hope to bring the case to trial by the fall of this year.

Owl perch

A barn owl perches near the peak of an old barn on a farm near Oakland in rural southwestern Oregon on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017. The owl and its mate looked like they were getting their next box ready for egg laying season.
