Bobcat in Oregon

A wild bobcat stretches as it walks along the edge of a field near the Umpqua River in southwestern Oregon.

The elusive bobcat (Lynx rufus) is a North American cat which ranges from southern Canada to central Mexico, including most of the contiguous United States.

Bobcats are not endangered in the United States, but their populations in some areas are very low due to over hunting and trapping along with competition from coyotes and domestic animals.

#Youthvgov in San Francisco

It was a day of networking and education for the #youthvgov team in San Francisco on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017. On Monday the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral argument over whether the Trump Administration can evade trial currently set for February 5, 2018.

On Monday, December 11, #youthvgov plaintiffs stand before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to ask that their case be allowed to proceed to trial, despite the Trump administration's efforts to dismiss this case and deny the rights of a generation.

"What strikes me most is that our generation is not really heard when it comes to the question: In what kind of world do we want to live in the future?"

"'Every week, or even every day, that our trial is delayed is time I spend further worrying about the stability of our climate system and the security of my future,' Kelsey Juliana.

Urban wildlife in Miami

I'm visiting Miami, Florida on a photo assignment. Had some time to walk around town this morning and I couldn't help myself but to shoot some wildlife photos.

A large wild iguana climbs through a mangrove tree just a few miles south of downtown Miami, Florida on Monday Dec. 4, 2017.

A couple of cute small lizards along an old wall.

I was surprised to see a feral chicken and her chick in downtown Miami.

A small Canis lupus familiaris and it's human watch the sunrise from the break wall around Brickell Key just off downtown Miami.

A dead rat on bark mulch at the base of a palm tree on Brickell Key.

A feral urban rooster.

Bird on a wire

A small sparrow puffs up its feathers as it perches on an electric fence around an orchard during a rain shower in rural western Oregon on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017. Birds puff up their feathers in order to trap more air in them, which is then warmed by their body heat and keeps the bird warm on a cold winter day.
Another sparrow hangs on as the wind blows and the rain falls sideways.
