Amphibian encounter

A rough skinned newt crawls over an oak leaf on a wooded hillside near Elkton in rural western Oregon on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017. Rough skinned newts are amphibians. In the fall and early winter they can be found on land as they migrate to their mating areas in ponds and waterways.
