Easter owls

I spent part of Easter Sunday hanging out with the barn owl nestling in the barn on our ranch in southwestern Oregon.
One of the parent owls perches on a nearby rafter. In owls, as with other raptors, the female is typically the larger of the mated pair.

Notice the small owlet at bottom right. He was very shy and I only saw him a few times. The nest now has five baby owls. If the rodent population stays strong the owls could continue to add to their family.
