Spawning wild Oregon coho salmon

Wild Oregon coast coho salmon swim upstream while spawning in a small creek near Glide, Ore., on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012.
The salmon, which are near death after their journey to the small creek from the Pacific Ocean, will spawn and die.
It's was a dry fall and the salmon had to wait longer than usual before being able to enter the creek.  Some of the bigger fish look pretty beat up and close to death.
The light was perfect for just a few minutes this morning.
Amazing colors when the sun came out.

The Telegraph in the U.K. picked up one of my salmon photos in their Pictures of the Day gallery.
