Prunes Drying

The first dried prunes of the season came out of the dryer at about 6 a.m. Here are a bin of fresh prunes waiting to go into the dryer.

On the Fisher Ranch in Kellogg, Oregon we run the last traditional prune drying operation in Douglas County.  The ranch has been in my wife's family since 1868.

After about 24 hours at 170 degrees the prunes are ready.

My dog, who loves prunes, searches for a snack.  Speaking of snacks, we sell prunes fresh out of the dryer.  Stop by our ranch on Maupin Road off Highway 138 in the Kellogg area.  Hurry because it's going to be a short season.
