Red-breasted sapsucker in Oregon

A red-breasted sapsucker drills holes and feeds on sap from the trunk of an apple tree on a farm near Elkton in southwestern Oregon on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022. According to allaboutbirds.com, sapsuckers are important members of their ecosystems, because many species of insects, birds, and mammals use the sapwells they drill to supplement their own diets.

Rodent patrol

A great blue heron catches a vole while hunting on a rainy day in a SW Oregon pasture. As a fellow mammal, this interaction makes me feel a little uncomfortable.

It's a matter of perspective

A herd of wild Roosevelt elk forage on a hillside near Elkton in rural southwestern Oregon on Wednesday Dec. 7, 2022. Roosevelt elk are the largest subspecies of elk in North America. Some bulls weigh nearly 1300 pounds.

Photography in action

It's great to see my photography used to promote the important work of non-profit organizations. For the last few years I've been a contract photographer with Our Children's Trust and Heart To Heart International. They both use my work in similar ways in their social and traditional media outreach.
Some of my photos have also been used to promote the Youth v Gov movie
