Halloween photo booth

My photo booth was a ghastly success at the Henry Goes Halloween party at the Henry Estate Winery near Roseburg on Saturday.
Zombies may be scary, but they're also very cool.
These guys made they own costumes.

Three blind mice.

The day started with family fun activities outside and later moved inside for a Halloween dance.

That's me in my cowboy costume

The photo booth prints out custom photo-quality strips in about 15 seconds.  The photo booth is available for parties, weddings, or any special event.  Check my website for rates.

I love fall

Fall is my favorite season.  In western Oregon fall means lots and lots of rain.  Good thing I also love the rain.  The only problem is that my feet never seem to dry out.
I found this lovely tree in Roseburg's Stewart Park this afternoon.

Fall fishing on the Umpqua River near Roseburg yesterday.  They're probably angling for fall steelhead.

My photo on National Geographic Magazine website

I have a photo on the National Geographic Magazine website today. It's in the Daily Dozen feature. Registered readers can vote on their favorite photo in the gallery.  I took the photo last week on our ranch.  That's my dog looking on.

The winner of the reader's choice vote gets published in the magazine.  There are some really amazing photos in the gallery, so I don't think my photo will win.

Roseburg senior portraits with Michael

I had a great time shooting senior portraits with Michael in Roseburg last week.  Cool pictures with a little help from his dad's 57' Chevy.

Nature's Best Photography

I learned today that I was named a highly honored photographer in the Nature's Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards 2010.

My photo was selected from more than 20,000 images entered in this year's contest.  A selection of Highly Honored images will be chosen to be displayed along with the Category Winners at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C. from the end of April through September of 2011.
My photo of a kayak on Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park won in the People in Nature category.

Front page rodent

A file photo of mine was on the front page of The Columbian in Vancouver, Wash., today.  Not Lady Gaga at the top of the page, but the nearly as good looking nutria below the fold.
I shot this while I worked at The News-Review in Roseburg and it was picked up by the Associated Press.

Goatloo

A large goat sits in an igloo shaped doghouse in a field along a country road near Green, Ore., on Friday, Oct. 15, 2010. According to an advertisement on a pet products website, the large Dogloo brand doghouse is designed for large dogs such as German shepherds, Labrador retrievers, and pointers,  but fails to mention goats.  (Credit Image: © Robin Loznak)

Night of the opossum

I found this young wild opossum in an apple tree in our orchard in rural Douglas County near Kellogg, Ore., early on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010.  Growing to about the size of a large house cat the Virginia opossums of North America are commonly called possums.  Opossums, which are marsupial, were once a favorite game animal in the United States. Book em'

Searching Google Books this morning I found several uses of my pictures.  Most of these images are used from the Associated Press archives.  The photo of Tiger woods was taken while I was freelancing for AP way back in 1996.  It's from Tiger Woods: Athlete (Black Americans of Achievement: Legacy Edition) by Judy L. Hasday

The disgusting "Meth Mouth" photo is from Methamphetamine (Drugs: the Straight Facts) by Randi Mehling

The photo of Molly the packing house escapee was used in

The Halloween haunted house  picture is from a National Geographic book:
The shot this photo in Browning, Montana for the American Bar Association magazine.
